Alcohol Inks - Tutorial.

Hello La-La Landers!

Today I had a very creative morning, I got to do one of my very favourite activities. I made backgrounds using Alcohol Inks. It is very easy to do and all of the pieces look very different from each other.

I started with a piece of 4x6 glossy photo paper and some bottles of Adirondack Alcohol Inks by Ranger. These inks can be pretty messy, but that is part of the fun.

I protected my work space and started my first piece.

I put a piece of felt on the end of my inking tool and added a few drops of ink Wild Plum and Butterscotch.

Then I set to work stamping the ink tool all over the glossy paper. As you go you will need to add a few more drops of colours to give the whole paper a good cover. The fun thing about the inks is that you can’t really mess them up. Because when you are finished adding the colours you add a Mixative and some Blending Solution to make the magic happen.

I used Silver Mixative and stamped on top of my ink colours. The colours move about, because of the Blending Solution, to create a really cool look that makes a perfect background for stamps.

You really need to bang the felt down onto the glossy paper and go over white spaces to get a full background. You can change the way your paper looks by adding Ink, Mixative or Blending Solution to spots that you think are not quite right.

While I was working I chose some cardstock colours and had help sewing them together to make a card. I used the Big Shot to cut out one of my background papers and foam dots to attach it to the cardstock. I chose pink and yellow cardstock colours to match my inks.
I used ***Marci With Rose*** to go on top. I never used Gelly Roll Pens before but now Mummy thinks I have found my "medium" - whatever that means.
The best part of this activity is CREATING, TRYING, EXPERIMENTING. I hope you get the chance to try something crafty and new too! Especially Alcohol Inks and Gelly Roll Pens with La-La Land stamps!

Making Velvet Paper

Hi everyone, it's Carly and I'm back to share a tutorial on how I made my background paper look like velvet!  Here's was my card I shared the other day:
Here are the supplies I used:
A Cuttlebug folder, your embossing machine, a cutter, a 4.25x5.5" white cardstock, and 2 SU! Markers.
First I ran the white piece of cardstock through the Cuttlebug withe the embossing folder.  The one I used is called Floral Fantasy.
Then I just colored all the flowers and leaves with my markers!
The first time I showed it my mom and my sister, they both said it looked like velvet!  So there ya go.  Here's my whole sheet colored.

We still have a KIDS CHALLENGE going on with the theme USE YOUR FAVORITE COLOR!  Everyone who enters will win Marci Money, so be sure to enter if you are a kid 17 or under.  Thanks

Birthday Cards

Happy Saturday.
Tomorrow I am going to a Birthday Party for two of my school friends, so tonight I was busy making cards. I thought I would share my cards with you because I am happy with how they turned out. There was lots of colouring, cutting and pop dotting. I had some help with the bows and the layers of cardstock were from my mum's collection, but the layout and colour choices were my idea.
I used lots of foam circles to stick all of the layers together then I added a pocket inside to hold the gifts. I chose movie tickets and also made each girl a bracelet with her initial on it.
Do you make your own birthday cards and presents too? We would love to see them on our Facebook page.
See you next time.

Mermaid Marci ~ by Maddy

Hi, this is Maddy and I have a cute Mermaid Marci card to show you.
I colored this Mermaid Marci and then added stickles (glitter glue) to her hair star barrette and some scales.  I made a treasure chest and some seaweed by drawing them and cutting them out.  I also cuttlebugged the blue cardstock to look like water bubbles and added some blue mesh for a net.

My mom had some colored see through envelopes so I put my card in one and it really looks like water!!
cards 158 See??  My card is actually a postcard because it doesn’t fold.
You can write on the back.  Hope you like it :)
Create anything using a La-La Land stamp or digi with a school theme!  One player will win a free stamp ☺

Caution:Passenger Colouring!

Hello Everyone Hannah here!
Did you ever work on a stamp and then go out of the lines and think it was ruined? Here is a quick and easy way to save all of your hard work. All you need are a pair of scissors and some glue.
Yesterday we went to the Brome Fair, which is a long drive from home. To make the journey faster I coloured some of my LaLaLand stamps. Buccaneer Marci was first, but the roads were not very good and my colouring was wobbly. I was disappointed but my Mum came up with a way to fix the problem...
First I re-stamped the face.
Then I cut it out - I got a little help to stay as close to the lines as possible...
Then I glued Marci's nice clean face OVER the problems, coloured her hair without bumps and VOILA! Saved myself from having to do the colouring all over again! Phew.
Hope you get to do something fun this Long Weekend too.
